COMFY LAYERING / Chambray and shades of browns

Does anyone watch 666 Park Avenue?  I was hooked once I saw the pilot and have seen every episode since then so I am disappointed that ABC cancelled the series.  A beautiful cast, a compelling storyline, and great fashion, I can't believe there's not enough viewers for it.  Thankfully ABC is airing the full 13-episodes so there's 5 episodes left to enjoy.  The reason I ask is because this outfit was inspired by an outfit Jane (played by the gorgeous Rachael Taylor) wore in one of the more recent episodes.  I can't recall the whole outfit but it was the combo of chambray and tan that caught my attention and it was a combo I wanted to recreate.

Initially I paired this with a black pencil skirt and oxfords but that look evoked a more professional image and I wanted more of a casual, laid-back outfit.  Plus, running around town doing errands in a pencil skirt wouldn't have been very comfy.  I changed into black skinnys and riding boots and managed to check everything off my to-do list for the day.

What attracted me to this color combo when I saw it on Jane is the contrast between warm and cool colors.  The "cool" light blue chambray pops out against the "warm" tan of the cardigan, browns of the boots and wallet, and golds in the hardware of the shoes, the jewelry, and the buttons.  By the way, is there a trick to stretching out shoes?  The toe box on these boots are a bit narrow so I want to try widening it a bit. I'm tempted to try the freezer trick but I don't think there's enough room in my freezer to put these boots in there, haha.

Whenever there's something to look forward to in your day, you know it will be a good day!  Today is one of those days because tonight I will be seeing The Lion King musical with my girlfriends.  I can't wait!!  Happy Thursday!
