I can't believe it's the 1st of December already! With the start of December comes the season of holiday parties. Dressing for work holiday parties are always tough (unless of course there's a theme, which is usually sweater related) - you want to be dressed appropriately but still stand out in your own special way. I think I've found that special way to be different.
In the past few years, I've always just grabbed the first coat I saw in my closet and threw it over my outfit. This year I wanted to try something different and focus the outfit around the coat. In comes this pretty coat. The metallic sheen on this leopard coat adds a touch of glam while the pleats at the waist gives the coat a playful silhouette.
When first worn out, I cinched the waist with a red belt and then later rolled the belt and slipped it into my clutch when the coat was checked in. Once the weather gets a bit chillier, I would love to wear the coat as a dress with some tights and booties.
For holiday parties I have a list of preferences. In no particular order I like lace, the color red, sequins, and/or gold accessories. This year I checked off three of those with this dress and shoes: lace, sequins, and accessorizing with bright patent red. I actually bought this dress last year for Shane's holiday party but went with another dress so I'm glad I was able to wear it this year.

Are there any requirements you have when dressing for holiday parties? Any tips and tricks or things to avoid? I have one tip (more of a DUH) to share, don't go overboard when there's open bar.... I will leave that story for another blog entry though. Hope you are all having a good weekend and staying dry! It is raining cats and dogs here in Nor.Cal.
