TGIF! My cousin's birthday is this weekend and he had a BBQ kickback planned tomorrow but unfortunately the rain coming to Northern California may throw his plans off. We will see. In the meanwhile, I've been enjoying the warm sun combined with the cool, breezy air which makes for the perfect Spring day!
A flowy silk blouse (so comfy as well!) and airy linen shorts in crisp colors is sure to put you in a serene mood as that is the effect it had on me; both materials will also keep you cool on a hot summer day. Speaking from experience (which was also captured...), I should warn that if you find a blouse that is too flowy, one gust of wind may reveal some things that is best left to the imagination. Apologies for that...
Silk is such a luxurious material and it is definitely a workhorse - it can keep you warm in the fall/winter and cool in the spring/summer. For Spring, I love printed and colored silk that have a relaxed or looser fit so that you can see the movement of the material. A bit rougher than silk but one that shares the capability to keep a person cool during the warmer days is linen. Linen is a great casual material for spring/summer as it is a lighter material that easily allows air to flow through but it is also very wrinkle-prone. Have an iron and board on hand before and after wearing linen so you can keep your pieces looking smooth and clean. And even then, it may not help. All the wrinkles on my shorts were from an hour of sitting down and eating and 30 minutes of driving!
Vince silk blouse (similar style here, same style in white) / BCBG Maxazria shorts (Vivienne Tam ones on sale for $29!) /
Talbots necklace (similar), DIY (inspired by Chan Luu) and Talbots Bracelet / J.Crew and Talbots belt /
Mom's clutch (similar with studs, gorgeous floral texture one) / Abaete for Payless heels (similar style in black!)
Hope you are having a great Friday (YAY, it's Friday!!) and have a nice weekend! Take care!
