ROMANCE / Pink lace-back dress and black midi skirt with touches of love and silver

romantic flirty pink black outfit midi full skirt
My virtual Valentine's card was a prelude to this outfit as Valentine's day is one of the few occasions I get to use this bag.  And even though the cost-per-use of this whimsical bag is quite high I cannot bear to let her go because this is one of those items that I imagine I will be giving to my future little girl and the smile on her face when she receives this is enough for me to keep the bag.  Rufus on the other hand could care less about the bag!

A plain black midi skirt can look matronly depending on what you pair it with.  Therefore to offset such a look I wore it with a top (actually a dress...) in a youthful color and a surprise in the back.  The lace back of the dress contrasts with the conservative nature of midi skirts while the rose pink adds softness to the black.  Combine that with silver bows and hearts and I have romanticized the skirt!  The goosebumps are not part of the look, haha.  It got a bit chilly towards the end so instead of running to the car and grabbing my jacket we just took some detail shots and finished up, we were about done anyway.  Also since midi skirts cut so far down the legs I opted for nude pumps to give the illusion of longer legs.

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day and got to enjoy your long weekend!  It was a food and love filled weekend for me.  I celebrated a dear friend's birthday (happy birthday Mags!) on Saturday and then continued Valentine's Day festivities in Windsor with Shane and my sister and her boyfriend.  Now back to the grind.  What did you do for Valentine's Day and over the long weekend?

  1. Lovely! We managed to have fun even though it wasn't a long weekend off for either of us. I love that you match the blossoms, too :)

    1. This was the first year our company gave us President's Day off; the past four years I've had to work like you and PiC but I am happy to hear you two got to enjoy your weekend! Thank you for the nice words!
